While we were in Las Palmas in November geting ready for the ARC Atlantic crossing, I noticed that the stripper rings on winches was broken. I tried to get one at the local chandleries in the Canaries but they were not in stock and delivery was several weeks. I managed to use an old credit card and epoxy to fashon a repair and that has stood up for two Atlantic crossings.

Today I decided to design and print a replacement. You can see my printed version in the centre, I am pleased to report that I got it right first time. To buy a replacement woiuld have cost 35 Euros (for that price you get a pair). It took me about an hour to complete the design, about 30 minutes to print and used about 60c worth of filament. If you happen to get stuck in somewhere in need of one and you find a friendly local with a 3D printer, you can download the stl file here. You would want to use a PETG Carbon Fibre or ASA Carbon Fibre filament. My 3D model is parametric an so could be easily adapted to print different sizes.
