ARC Day 2 - Fish on!

We had a really enjoyable 24 hours sailing with the Parasail. The winds remain fairly light at 12 to 13 knots, but the seas are flat, making for very comfortable conditions. Over that period, we averaged about 6.0 knots and are now ranked 4th in our class (Multi-Hulls B). This is before the engine penalty is applied, so I suspect we’re actually doing better, as we weren’t pushing hard while under engine power, whereas I’m fairly certain others were.
Six knots is a great fishing speed, so we decided to put out the line, making a small modification based on Timour’s suggestion to add a weight to pull the lure deeper. The adjustment paid off quickly, and we soon had two beautiful Mahi Mahi on board. Even better, we managed to reel them in without slowing down—a definite bonus!
This catch made dinner an easy decision: Mahi Mahi ceviche as a starter, followed by grilled Mahi Mahi with rice for the main course. It was an excellent meal.
The crew are settling into a rhythm now and becoming more comfortable with the boat each day.
We’re working to avoid a windless hole to the west, so for now, we’re continuing south rather than taking the direct route to St. Lucia. We’re trying to follow a narrow band of wind as we track west, but it looks like we might need to motor again tomorrow. After that we should be heading west in the Trade winds.
