The wind dropped just after dinner last night so we reluctantly started the engines and motor sailed. In order to get to Horto before dark we had to put both engines on and hold keep our average speed at 7 knots.

With this we completed 170 nautical miles in the last 24 hours, leaving about 60 left. We should be arriving Horta at around 9.00pm this evening.
The chart plotter is showing several other boats also heading for Horta, this is a little strange as we saw no other sail boats in the entire 10 days.

Horto has an outer harbour, with a jetty wall and a small marina. Even now we can see many boats in there on AIS. There will be many more in there with AIS turned off, but I'm sure there is room for one more. We will call them on VHF when we get close.

Weather is cool and sunny, seas are flat and we have 6 knots of wind off the starboard beam.
We are hoping to site some Whales as we are at the right time of year for them to pass by the Azores and there have been lots of sightings by whale watching boats. But so far just lots and lots of dolphins.
