21 October, Sunday 9.00am
We have a 5 hour sail down to the south of Lanzarote where we will meet up with Cheryl. I anticipated an early dawn start at 6.00am, but the sun does not rise here until 8.00, so our start was delayed. Time is very confused as our phones keep flipping between time zones it can be 8.25 one minute and 9.26 the next!
We quickly raised the anchor and raised the main and the jib are making good way under sail.
This is one of my favourites and you can now sing along with the new nautical themed version. I am very grateful to Cheryl for supporting me in my lifelong dream to "Sail the world with the one I love". Thank you, this is dedicated to you.
On the sea again
Just can't wait to get on the sea again
The life we love is sailing with the wind
And we can't wait to get on the sea again
On the sea again
Goin' places that we've never been
Seein' sights we'll never see again
And we can't wait to get on the sea again
On the sea again
Just can't wait to get on the sea again
Sailing the world with the one I love
And we can't wait to get on the sea again
On the sea again
Drifting free beneath the sky so blue
With every wave our hearts are sailing, too
And we can't wait to get on the sea again
On the sea again
Just can't wait to get on the sea again
The life we love is sailing with our friends
And we can't wait to get on the sea again
And we can't wait to get on the sea again...
Leaving the anchorage under sail. Doing 7 knots, in the lee of the island so the seas are calm.

We were able to sail the entire way, running down the west side of the island, then cclose hauled for the final stretch, a fantastic and fast sail.
We arrived at the Rubacon Marina, refuelled, checked in, decided to stay for two nights as it is only 65 Euros per night and we need some shore time.
After completing formalities and parking the boat, we met Cheryl at a marina side restaurant for a slow lunch. Back to the boat to drop of luggage and then back out for some grocery shopping before settling in for the night.
It was a great crossing, so impressed with the performance of the boat in all sorts of conditions.
Historical snippet
On October 18, 1867, the U.S. officially took possession of Alaska after purchasing it from Russia in what became known as the Alaska Purchase. The USS Ossipee and USS Resaca participated in the formal transfer of authority at Sitka, marking the expansion of U.S. territory and influence in the northern Pacific. This significant event had a lasting impact on maritime activity and trade in the region
On the Road Again was written and performed by American country music legend Willie Nelson. Released in 1980, the song became one of Nelson's most iconic hits, and it originally appeared on the soundtrack of the film *Honeysuckle Rose*, in which Nelson played a lead role. The film follows the life of a country singer constantly traveling on tour, and the song perfectly captures the nomadic lifestyle of a musician.
The story behind the song is quite simple. Nelson was asked by the film’s producers if he could come up with a song that reflected the main character's life on the road. During a flight, Nelson reportedly scribbled the lyrics on a barf bag, inspired by his own experiences as a touring artist. The song’s easygoing melody and relatable lyrics about life on the move resonated with fans, making it a hit on both the country and pop charts. It even won a Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1981.
The song has since become an anthem for travelers of all kinds, symbolizing freedom, adventure, and the joy of the open road—much like your journey on the sea!
