Furler Further Findings - Blown Bearing

The crew have hired a car and gone for a tour of the Island. I stayed back on the boat to give it a going over before our next 900 nautical mile leg to Lagos, Portugal. At last report, a gentle tap with a rubber mallet at the base of the furling drum released the jam. It is now rolling in and out relatively easily (at least when not under load). But, now that we are at anchor in Horta, I can get a closer inspection. The evidence shows something clearly amiss. I believe the bearing in this model is sealed, so not sure exactly where this is coming from, but I know metal bits are never a good sign. Back to my trusty broker YSW for their insight and to see if this is a warranty item.
