Continuing our journey inland, we took advantage of our second day with the rental car to explore Roque Nublo. After days on the beaches, this rugged mountain destination offered a refreshing change. Although it’s only a 1.5-hour drive from Las Palmas, the winding, narrow road made it feel longer—climbing nearly 1,800 meters (6,000 feet) above sea level!
Parking was scarce, and any open spaces quickly filled up, so we mostly enjoyed the views from the car. The cooler temperatures caught us off guard as we hadn’t dressed for it! On the way down, we found a sunny spot for lunch, and the crisp mountain air brought back memories of sunny spring days on the ski slopes—invigorating and refreshing.
