Have you tested your nautical knowledge with todays quiz?

We are really enjoying the vibe in Las Palmas city. It is a real town with a very Spanish feel, it lacks the inevitable, Irish pubs and the restraints delivering food "just like we get at home".

The forecast rain did not eventuate and the temperature, at a perfect 25C, was a little warmer than forecast. It was a day off for the crew, Stephen headed across to the other side of the bay and did a long walk to the along the beach promenade and out of the city. Cheryl and I headed to the old town. Like we have found everywhere in Spain the towns are really good for walkers and cyclists, with wide paths running all along the coast.

The old town is about a 50 minute walk from the boat, a perfect distance to get a good walk in. We had tapas lunch at a restaurant beside the cathedral and spent the afternoon wandering the streets.

In the evening we took a taxi (5 Euros) back to the old town for dinner, did a bit more wandering, I had an ice cream others declined. All in all a very nice day.

History Snippet:

In October 26, 1492, when Christopher Columbus, sailing under the Spanish flag, made a key discovery. His fleet was navigating the Caribbean waters when they first encountered the island we now know as Cuba. Columbus initially believed he had reached Asia, but what he had truly found was a gateway to the New World. This moment of discovery opened the floodgates to European exploration and colonization of the Americas, forever changing the course of history.

Columbus’s voyage of "Discovery" became more controversial of late, but it still reminds us that every journey holds the potential for new horizons.
