Unfortunately the forecast is proving to be true and we are crossing a sausage shaped high pressure ridge that runs north- south. There ia no way around it and we cannot wait it out, we have no choice but to power on through. We did have a brief spell of wind this afternoon and were making good progress with the main and gennaker, we even Gibed our first tack change in over 2000 miles of sailing!! We then got ambitious and decided to fly the parasail again, but by the time Seamus and I failed to launch a couple of times due to twists, the wind had gone!
We had a slight consolation watching a pod of whales passing by in the distance. We could clearly see them blowing out air as they surfaced, but thy were too far away to get any decent photographs.
The sun continues to shine and the seas are flat. Fishing continues to disappoint, luckily Cheryl did not count on us catching any fish when she prepared all of our frozen meals!!

In two days, when we escape this wind hole, we should have two good day of sailing to Lagos. This will get us in at 2.00am on the 1st August.
