Ship Shape

If you noticed it has been all quiet on the blog front the last couple of days. The reason for this is that it has been all work and no play. Now most of the work hard grind is being done by Cheryl, I get the fun jobs.

Weather has been spectacular, it is so nice to wake up to this every morning:

Hard grind (Cheryl):

• Shop for provisions for preprepared meals for Andrew's contribution to Atlantic crossing

• Cook and freeze meals

• Clean the inside of the boat from top to bottom

• Reorganize stowage of food and cooking utensils

• Launder everything

• Defrost all fridges and freezers

  
  

Fun jobs (Andrew)

• Fill the 5 Diesel cans (that's 100l or approximately 40 hours running for one engine at 2000 rpm, may double that up)

• Get engines serviced (400 hours)

• Get generator serviced (300 hours)

• Clean the outside of the boat

• Install a pole reversal switch for the new tricolour masthead light It can double as navigation lights (positive polarity) and anchor light (negative polarity)

• Organize and document storage of all equipment on the boat. (See https://www.mackensea.com/storage)

• Report a couple of minor warranty issue:

  • Water intrusion on rooftop solar panels

  • Water seepage from port side rudder bearing seal

The good news is that we are done and we can now relax and enjoy the excellent weather here in Las Palmas.

David, Rudy and Byron can complete the provisioning and food preparation when they get on board.

To be done:

• Fix twist on Code Zero halyard (Need to wait for crew to hoist me up the mast)

• Buy a harness to tie me on for above

• Buy 3 three point tethers (ARC requires 3 point tethers, mine are two

• Buy and alarm for the fishing reel. When we caught the marlin, it ran out all the line on the reel before we even know we had a fish on!

• Buy a filleting knife

• Buy a recharge kit for lifejackets (ARC requirement)

• Buy chafe protection sleeving
